What makes decoupling elements essential?

The primary function of a decoupling element is to absorb the constant vibrations and thermal expansion generated by the engine—protecting costly components like emission systems and sensors from mechanical damage. That’s why these elements are often integrated into the front pipe or connected as standalone units.

There are two main types of decoupling elements, each offering distinct features and performance benefits. It’s important to always replace a damaged unit with the same type, as the system is specifically engineered for that design.

Dinex offers a full range of decoupling elements built on the same proven technologies we supply to OEMs—engineered for durability, performance, and cost-efficiency.

Technical Insights: What’s the difference between a flexible pipe and a bellow?

Despite common misconceptions, flex pipes and bellows are not intended to compensate for dimensional deviations. If a pipe cannot be installed in its proper, nominal position, it shouldn’t be forced into place. Misalignment elsewhere in the system may have caused the previous pipe to fail—always inspect surrounding components before installation.

Product Flex Hose 81113

Flexible Pipe / Flex-Hose

The most versatile option for absorbing movement—but also the least leak-tight. Made by spirally folding a thin metal strip into a flexible structure, it handles axial, bending, and limited torsional motion. Dinex offers multiple design variations, each engineered to balance flexibility and sealing performance.

Product Bellow 68239 (1)

Bellows: For Leak-Tight Applications

A thin pipe section formed with bulges that makes it work similarly to a spring. Completely leak-tight and effective at absorbing axial and bending movements, as well as temperature fluctuations.
